Migrating from Lync 2010 to Lync 2013. At step 8 in the Microsoft migration document

All our users have been moved over to the 2013 Pool. We have a very simple setup. Only IM and Presence. No telephony and no one has used Lync so far to schedule meetings. We were running with a small pilot pool on 2010 and plan to roll out to everyone for the first time now that we are on 2013. 2010 was a single Standard Edition server with a local SQL database.

We still have the 2010 Edge in place at this time and will probably keep it around until we can upgrade to 2013 although I was told that the 2010 Edge will do just fine and will function just as well as a 2013 server.

I am at step 8 in the Microsoft document, specifically the line items that talks about moving the Central Management Server to 2013. I suppose I have to do this because in Topology Builder, the Central Management Server is listed as the 2010 server. Will running this procedure update that and point it to the 2013 server? What does this Central Management Server database contain? Not sure why I need to migrate it from the 2010 server to our SQL that hosts our 2013 databases. There is no meeting data in it as no one has used Lync for meetings and all the users are now on 2013.

Lastly, I am guessing because we are still using the 2010 Edge server, we have to keep the 2010 environment around because it looks to me like the Edge pool is part of the 2010 environment in Topology build. Given that, should I even be doing the moving of the Central Management Server now or should I wait until we have built out the 2013 Edge?
