Hi all,
I know that a direct migration from OCS 2007 to Lync Server 2013 is not supported (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg425764.aspx). However, I just wondered if anyone else has actually tried this is a lab or in production and whether it iwas successful in any case? I'm looking for real world results/experience if anyone has tried this as I know it is not supported.
Interestingly, the TN documentation for the Lync Server 2013 Move-CsUser command make reference to OCS 2007 explicitly:
"If Lync Server is coexisting with Office Communications Server 2007 R2 or Office Communications Server 2007, then theMove-CsUser cmdlet can used to move a user back from Lync Server to the legacy installation of Office Communications Server. [...] Lync Server has many more capabilities than eitherOffice Communications Server 2007 or Office Communications Server 2007 R2. Users moved back might also need to install previous versions of their client software, and may be required to reschedule meetings that were created when their user accounts were homed on Lync Server."
This is under 2013 documentation, but may have just been cut and pasted from the 2010 document.
One other thing: Richard Brynteson posted a blog on "Migrating Userdata from OCS 2007/R2/Lync 2010 to Lync 2013" (http://masteringlync.com/2013/03/28/migrating-userdata-from-ocs-2007r2lync-2010-to-lync-2013/). I wonder if it's possible to export the user data from OCS 2007, decommission the old version, install Lync 2013 from scratch, enable the users for Lync 2013 and then convert and import the legacy user data so that the users get their buddy lists back. Does anyone know if this is possible?
Thanks,
Garry
