Dear All,
i have an Hub and Spoke Forest Which Consist of about 31 Child Domains and one Root Level Domain which is Placed in Center of All Communications to other Child Domains. No one of Child DOmains can Communicate Directly to each other and have to replicate the Data which Root Domain holds. for the Deployment of Lync in Root Domian we have no Issues.
even for the Deployment of CHild Domains as Separate Sites we have no Issues. and because of non Stability of WAN Connections I have Chonen Separation of Every Domain in a Unique Site Level Deployment in Lync Topology. so i have about 31 Sites of Lync Servers Dedicated to each Location with its Domain and DCs.
and now My Questions:
1- is this Deployment right ? i have seen only two number of Sites in every Deployment Guide of Lync! is there any issues against Multiple Lync Server Sites ?
2- User Replicator Service on Every Site Tries to Replicate User Data from all Domain COntrollers in Forest which will not happen since it cannot connect to child Domain DCs Directly. i have checked Set-csUserReplicatorConfiguration and it helped me to pass the First Startup of Lync Service in every Site. but this Setting is Service or Global Level and cannot happen to Site Levels. is there any workaround against this Situation? on of the negative impacts of having a Hub/Spoke Forest Model and such Lync Deployment is when users want to use Lync Search Feature cannot find others by their name. users have to type full name of Contacts to find them and well, this is not good at all.
Hi,
Does anyone know if or when this will be supported?
Thanks
I take its safe to deploy a new Edge pool in a new site without impacting on operations? I already have a site with the live Edge server to which all simple URLS point to but I'm now at a stage I want to introduce the new Edge pool which will eventually come the live site and it will use the same simple URLS as the current one.
As along as I don't swing over the external and internal DNS records I'm pretty sure this won't have any impact but thought I'd ask the question here before I commit! :)
We have LYNC 2010 Enterprise Pool in North America with 5 Front End servers, 2 Edge Servers. No Director servers deployed. We want to enable Dial-In Conferencing feature for all users across the Globe (to avoid 3rd party conferencing cost…) and proposing 2 additional pools ( one in EMEA and another in APAC regions). I am looking for best practices to deploy multiple pools on multiple central sites.
Thanks in advance for your help…

Hello!
Windows 7
Lync 2013 client
When sharing my dekstop with Lync2013, I'm getting a message that it has stopped working and it will signed me out.
Any hints/tips how to fix this?
My BDA team had give me the right permission on their SQL backend to deploy Lync entreprise.
So far, so good. Lync has been deployed.
Now they are wondering is they can remove some rights?
They have gave me the rights has stated here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398375.aspx
(Granted RTCUniversalServerAdmins the sysadmins SQL Server security group and member of the SQL Server local Administrators group)
Basically, they want to remove the RTCUniversalServerAdmins group fron the SQL Server local Administrators group
Thanks for any help

Hello,
We are trying to setup Lync on a few kiosk machines that will have a shared non-admin account. We'd like to modify Lync to not save the "Sign-In Address" and instead of showing the last persons login credentials, show "username@domain.com".
I'd also like to disable the "Save Password" check box.
The kiosks are not on the domain, although the vast majority of our machines are on the domain and we have SSO setup and don't want to mess with how that part of the signin process is working.
Is there a way to modify the login behavior of Lync via GPO or Task Scheduler/Scripts?

Hi
I have started the setup for Lync Server 2010 but during forest prep I got this error...
Command execution failed: Cannot find the object "CrossRef" in Active Directory.
One more thing I would to add, Is it necessary to install Lync server 2010 on a domain.
Please help

We have one Lync Server Enterprise Edition pool pointing to a standalone backend SQL Server. We are looking to replace the standalone SQL Server with a clustered SQL Server. This would be during a planned outage.
I have done this before (without Lync in the equation) using the following procedure:
Shutdown all applications using SQL Server
Detach all databases on SQL Server
Use sp_helprevlogin to script all the logins
Shutdown old SQL Server
Build new SQL Server cluster and give it the same name as the original SQL Server
Run login script on new SQL server to recreate logins
Re-attach all databases on new server
Will this procedure work with a Lync backend database server? The server name will remain the same, so Lync should just reconnect to the new server, right? (I will leave the services down during the migration and then bring them up at the end.)
I am getting error while accessing url of lyncweb.domain.com, dialin.domain.com and meet.domain.com pointing to RP server.

This error is at "Step 3: Prepare Current Forest" of the install.

Hi,
We need to deploy Lync Basic Client to 2000 PCs. (BASIC client not Full client)
We have Office 365 E1 licenses and want to use Lync Online.
When we install the Lync Basic client from the Office 365 portal we get the following version info in the about dialog:
Microsoft Lync 2013 (15.0.4627.1000) MSO (15.0.4631.1002)
We cannot ask 2000 users to install the Lync Basic client using Office 365 portal because users do not have administrative privileges to install software.
We need to deploy Lync Basic Client using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager.
If we download the Lync Basic client from below URL we get the following version info in the about dialog:
Microsoft Lync 2013 (15.0.4420.1017) MSO (15.0.4420.1017)
URL = http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35451
If we update the Lync Basic client from below URL we get the following version info in the about dialog:
Microsoft Lync 2013 (15.0.4615.1000) MSO (15.0.4420.1017)
URL = http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2880980/nl
This version (15.0.4615.1000) is still not eqiual to the Office 365 portal version (15.0.4627.1000)
Question:
1. Is there a MSI package available with same version as portal version?
2. Any best practice to deploy latest version of Lync basic client using System Center Configuration Manager?

Is there any plan to release new version of Lync server to support it on Windows Server 2012?
