Lync Frond end server IP change

$

Hi All ,

Am using Lync server 2013 with Edge server for external access.

i just migrated Lync 2010 to 2013 , we are integrated Lync with Avaya for incoming and outgoing calls , everything is working fine except avaya outgoing calls from Lync , since the error logs shows call initiating IP is our Lync 2010 IP address , so i shut downed the Lync server 2010 and i added that IP address into Lync 2013 IP address additionally  , But still the outgoing calls not working from  Lync .

Right now i have 3 IP's configured in my Lync 2013 frond end server (Include my Lync 2010 IP) , now am planning to move the Lync 2010 IP as a primary IP to check the outgoing calls , will this affect anywhere ? from SQL side or EDGE side or end users?

Thanks,

Mani L

What steps do I follow to find the Live Meeting that I recorded this morning?

External Meeting through meet.domain.com shows blank white screen?

We have a basic lync setup with one FE, and Edge server and reverse proxy.

We can get lync to work internally on our LAN fine and also externally through lync mobile app or client used externally, this is all using our internal sign in addresses.

We cannot however get external meetings to work with anonymous users. If we send out a lync meeting request that contains the meeting url for the user they click on the link and it brrings up IE and trys to connect to https://meet.domain.com/first.last./fe3434 but then stops trying and brings up a blank white page and goes no further..

any ideas?

Lync server 2013 User Replicator Replication Scope by Domain

$

Dear All,

i have an Hub and Spoke Forest Which Consist of about 31 Child Domains and one Root Level Domain which is Placed in Center of All Communications to other Child Domains. No one of Child DOmains can Communicate Directly to each other and have to replicate the Data which Root Domain holds. for the Deployment of Lync in Root Domian we have no Issues.

even for the Deployment of CHild Domains as Separate Sites we have no Issues. and because of non Stability of WAN Connections I have Chonen Separation of Every Domain in a Unique Site Level Deployment in Lync Topology. so i have about 31 Sites of Lync Servers Dedicated to each Location with its Domain and DCs.

and now My Questions:

1- is this Deployment right ? i have seen only two number of Sites in every Deployment Guide of Lync! is there any issues against Multiple Lync Server Sites ?

2- User Replicator Service on Every Site Tries to Replicate User Data from all Domain COntrollers in Forest which will not happen since it cannot connect to child Domain DCs Directly. i have checked Set-csUserReplicatorConfiguration and it helped me to pass the First Startup of Lync Service in every Site. but this Setting is Service or Global Level and cannot happen to Site Levels. is there any workaround against this Situation? on of the negative impacts of having a Hub/Spoke Forest Model and such Lync Deployment is when users want to use Lync Search Feature cannot find others by their name. users have to type full name of Contacts to find them and well, this is not good at all.

Skype for Business - Multiple SIP Address domain

Hello, I am migrating to Lync 2010 Standard to Skype for Business 2015 Enterprise, I have two issues.

1) The environment has two domains, domain.com (local domain), domain.net (SMTP domain) and One Sub Domain subdomain.domain.net (SMTP domain for other users).

The Lync environment has one domain,  dominio.com (local domain) only for internal users, but the new implementation of S4B is for internal, external and federations users,

Migration is taking place in an environment of coexistence between both Lync2010 and S4B2015 platforms.

The default SIP domain in Lync is DOMAIN.COM (local domain), and I added two additional domains = DOMAIN.NET andSUBDOMAIN.DOMAIN.NET

The users @DOMAIN.NET work perfectly in skype Pool.

I create DNS zone =subdomain.domain.net in the internal DNS server and create the SRV records and A as DNS Zones of domain.net

That may be happening?

2) The other issue is related with certificates, but I describe in the other post when I resolve this issue.

Thank You for your appreciate comment.

Do Lync Online Meetings require all attendees to have a microphone? (I'm sure the answer is no...)

I have a standard deployment on 1 FE and 1 edge server.  Nobody is connecting through the edge server - the presenter and all participants are all on the same domain and on the same lan.

The intention is to have one presenter who needs a microphone and a few dozen participants that won't speak and don't have microphones.   I found that when an online meeting is set up, I can invite people with webcams and they join without any problems.  Those without webcams get an error when joining:  Audio device is not configured.

Our OCS 2007r2 didn't have this issue, so I'm pretty sure that I just have something misconfigured.  Any ideas what that could be?

Hello All,

I have been searching for any information/documentation related to migrating on-premise Lync server 2010 users to Office 365 Skype for business without the need to use hybrid deployment method. So far only information I found are all hybrid method migration to Office 365 Skype for Business. Would you happen to have documentations that I can read through to help me migrate users to O365 Skype for business? Any recommendations/suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thank you and I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely,

LYNC 2010 Edge server deployment issues

$

I've been able to install LYNC and have the meet and dialin function working properly internal/external. I'm attempting to test setting up external access to the client with an edge server. All seems to install properly etc with no errors being thrown my way. But in the services i have a few that will not start with the below errors. Can anyone point me to a deployment scenario with an edge server how-to?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Lync Server Access Edge service terminated with service-specific error %%-1008124918.

The Lync Server Web Conferencing Edge service terminated with the following error:
The requested address is not valid in its context.

We have a Lync 2010 installation that we current publish through a TMG server. Is it possible to publish Lync 2010 through the server 2012 R2 WAP proxy? I see examples and instructions for Lync 2013, but not for Lync 2010.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Lync DNS records in split brain dns question

$

Wanting to deploy 2 Lync EE with DNS LB.  I have questions on where to put the DNS records for our split brain DNS.

Internal Domain = domain.local

Sip Domain = domain.com

Lyncfe1.domain.local and lyncfe2.domain.local are the two EE Lync servers to be used.  We have a domain.com zone internally to be used for srv and host records as needed.

I get confused when reading technet about where to create the pool name records.  Should it be lyncpool.domain.local or lyncpool.domain.com?  It seems fairly clear that the other simple urls (meet, dialin, admin) should be created in the sip domain zone (domain.com)

Any help is appreciated...thanks

I am testing Lync 2010 Enterprise. We currently use OCS2007 R2.

I have all of the services starting just fine on the Pool servers except for "Lync Server Audio Test Service (RTCATS). I cant seem to figure out why.

I ran the following command:

Start-CsWindowsService -Report c:\servicestart.html

This is the output:

Start-CsWindowsService : Service "Lync Server Audio Test Service (RTCATS)" fail

ed to start within the expected timeframe: System error..

At line:1 char:23

+ Start-CsWindowsService <<<<  -Report c:\servicestart.html

   DeploymentException

    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : Start failed.,Microsoft.Rtc.Management.Deploymen

   t.StartServicesCmdlet

Here is the output from C:\servicestart.html:

Error: Service "Lync Server Audio Test Service (RTCATS)" failed to start within the expected timeframe: System error..

I have 3 front-end servers, and all of them exhibit the same exact error. I have tried re-installing the OCSWMIBC.msi (WMI backwards compatibility - as suggested by another thread), but that doesn't seem to solve it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello guys

I have gone through some research online but I haven't found the solution to my problem

I run Reset-CsPoolRegistratarState -PoolFqdn “server.domain.local” -ResetType FullReset on Lync Management Shell and rebooted the server still yet no changes has been made. the Front end service is still stuck in starting

That is why I have not been able to sign into the lync client and this is my first time of deploying Lync

Here is the error message:

Failure occurrences: 242, since 10/17/2013 11:25:56 AM.

Cause: Either the Front End service is not running, or poor network connectivity.

Resolution:

I really need help on this issue cos I have been battling with this for days,
