IIS ARR with multiple Standard Edition Pools

$

Hi,

I have two standard edition Skype for Business pools (A and B) with Edge and Reverse proxy components deployed.  The pools are in a pool pair with users distributed across both pools, everything is working fine with one exception;

My reverse proxy is IIS ARR, and has the relevant server farms created on it (lyncdiscover, meet, dialin, webext, wac).

The target for these farms is one of the Skype for business standard edition pools (A). If a user homed on pool A creates a meeting, then external users can access it fine through the meeting join URL. However if a user homed on pool B creates a meeting then external users are unable to access the meeting.

If I change the target of the meet server farm in IIS to pool B then the problem swaps pools.

I can add pool B as a second server in the meet server farm, but this does not resolve the issue as I need to refresh the client web page in order to force it onto the second server.

I was under the impression that the pool which receives the request from the reverse proxy will proxy the request to the users home pool if required - but this is not happening.

Can someone please advise me of the correct configuration of IIS ARR as a reverse proxy with multiple standard edition servers?

Kind regards
Dave

Outlook Contacts :- This contact was added from Skype for Business 2015

Hello Peeps,

This is an easy one but hoping for some technical explanation.

In my Outlook Contacts I have 2 contact groups

1. Skype  for Business Contacts

2. Contacts.

group 2 is from my GAL plus personal additions

group 1 says " This contact was added from Skype for Business 2015)

Questions ; - Does this mean that every contact I add in Skype for Business Client Icon manifests here ?  and when I try to make changes to it , I get an error that says " You cannot make changes to contents of this read-only folder" What makes Skype for business automatically create this contact group ?

response group concurrent calls

Hi,
we have a response Group of 12 agent configured in round robin and we really enjoy how it is working but
now we have a new requirement, and then we should handle only 2 concurrent calls at a time,  there is a way to configure this in Lync? (please remember that the response Group has to be  composed still by 12 active agents so that calls can be passed between people)

Thanks,

A.C.

TrustedApplicationPool and failover.

We are running Lync Enterprise with a backup (fail over) registrar on the FE server and our users/offices us a SBA with their own registrar. In the case that the SBA stops functioning they can use the FE as registrar. This works so, so far so good. We also use a program called Peter Connects that is running on a different server and has his TrustedApplicationPool and endpoints on the FE and also uses the FE as registrar. What I am wondering what will happen in our FE stops working with the pool and the endpoints? Some people will say that is does not matter where the pool and endpoints are registered but I don't believe that.

I think that if we want the Peter Connects to also use that fail over the pool and endpoints need to be moved to the SBA, same as our normal users. Can somebody confirm me if I am correct in this? Also, if we need to move the pool and endpoints what is the best practice to do so?

Lync 2013 Server - normalizing outlook contact numbers

$

Hi All,

I have issue with normalizing numbers coming from outlook vcards and showing in Lync 2013/skype for business clients.

So, in short...we are using only contacts from outlook to show numbers. Numbers from AD,GAL are not in AddressBook. Don't ask me way, it's a company policy.

CsClientPolicy is set to:

AddressBookAvailability: WebSearchOnly
EnableExchangeContactSync: False

We have mixed client environment with 2010 clients and 2013/Skype clients.

With 2010 clients everything is like expected. Number from outlook vcard in format +XX (XX) XXXXX-XX is shown is lync contact from drop down in same format +XX (XX) XXXXX-XX. When I click to call that number, I can see it's normalized in E.164 +XXXXXXXXXXXX which is expected.

With 2013/Skype client, number from  outlook vcard in format +XX (XX) XXXXX-XX is already normalized in drop down menu or "Call" menu +XXXXXXXXXXXX. This is not ok, as we would like to see same behavior like in 2010 client. Calls are processed normally without issues...it is only "look and feel" kinda thing.

Is there a way to control this, or we just have to accept like it is....

Problems with Lync Front End Server - Error 500 - OCSAuthHelperModule could not be found.

Hi!

While updating a Lync deployment to make the mobility part work, I have run into problems which I think is IIS related. When browsing https://servername/Autodiscover/AutodiscoverService.svc/root/user I get an error message saying:

HTTP Erro 500.0 - Internal Server Error

Module "OCSAuthHelperModule" could not be found

I have looked around a lot and tried most things I can come up with, including redoing every step in the LS_Mobility guide.

During first install of the mobility update I had a problem getting the installer to recognize the Dynamic Compression feature of IIS. It was installed, but the bootstrapper still said it wasn't. I ended up removing the IIS role, rebooting, then adding it back in with all features. Then the bootstrapper would run and install the Mcx update.

When I look in IIS, at the "Modules" installed in f.ex. the Autodiscover virtual directory, I see the the OCSAuthHelperModule look different compared to other servers I have set up. It's listed as "Managed", and the "Code" field is empty, while on other servers it "Native" and the "Code" field says something like "c:\windows\assembly\GAC_64\Microsoft.Rtc.Server.WebInfrastructure\4.0.0.0............etc.".

Any ideas? I am hoping to avoid a complete reinstall, since the server is in production and works fine for everything except mobile clients.

Lync 2013 - DNS Records - NO Split Brain

Hi Guys,

Should be easy but I am getting an error that is forcing me to triple check my DNS records.

502 - Web server received an invalid response while acting as a gateway or proxy server. There is a problem with the page you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. When the Web server (while acting as a gateway or proxy) contacted the upstream cont

When I go to either meet.domain.com or dialin.domain.com anything published by my IIS ARR i get the above.

We dont have a split brain and so I created an external zone internally.(domain.com)

In addition since the reverse proxy is not on the domain. I made sure that the domain.com ( Internal zone) Ip addresses are resolved internally in the hosts file.

When I do a testocs connectivity online I get the following

Lync internal web services and poolname are same

$

Hi, I am curious if there will be any issue if we are using internal web services and pool name as same in Lync 2010 enterprise edition. Suppose our pool name is pool01.abc.com and internal web services are also pool01.abc.com. so will there be any issues or any chances of issues in future? Is there a need to segregate SIP and HTTPS traffic internally even if we are using HLB? There are 6 FE servers and being load balanced using HLB. we are using a single external certificate for pool, internal and external web farm, is this fine ? Your answers are appreciated. Thanks. :)

Upgrade to Lync 2013 or Skype for business

We are currently using Lync 2010 for instant messaging and Shared desktop. Employees are dependent on Lync 2010. Do we upgrade to Lync 2013 or switch over to Skype for business?? Lync is predominately used for instant messaging at our company. What are the advantages of staying with Lync or switching over to Skype ? It looks like Skype's strength is in video conferencing. Does Skype also do shared desktop? Can a Lync client be downloaded to Blackberries, androids and Apple phone?
